Surviving The Battle, PLLC is a culturally responsive counseling group practice committed to breaking the stigma around mental health in the African American community. We provide outpatient mental health services that center the lived experiences of Black individuals and families—offering a safe, affirming space to heal, grow, and thrive.

OPT (Outpatient Therapy)

Outpatient Treatment is a service designed to meet the clinically significant behavior or psychological symptoms or patterns that have been identified as treatment needs of the recipient. OPT may be provided to an individual, family, or group. OPT primary goal is to meet the clinical needs of the client. Outpatient services include: counseling, psychotherapy, comprehensive clinical assessment screening and includes natural support with an identified family member.

TFCBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) 18-Under

TFCBT is an evidence-based psychotherapy that addresses the needs of children & adolescents with traumatic life events. TFCBT is a components-based treatment model that incorporates trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic principles and techniques. TF-CBT has proved successful with children and adolescents (ages 3 to 18) who have significant emotional problems (e.g., symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder, fear, anxiety, or depression) related to traumatic life events.

When discussing trauma with a client, it’s important to foster a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment, while avoiding questions that may be triggering or re-traumatizing. The STB Trauma Curriculum offers a non-invasive, nontraditional, and evidence-based approach to psychotherapy—designed to support individuals in healing from psychological trauma through innovative, theory-informed practices.

LLC Group Curricula (Levels Lane Choices) 15-19 (Males Only)

Our Levels Lane and Choice (LLC) is a subjective, evidence based therapeutic curriculum designed to assist STB group members with reaching their highest potential. LLC group curricula is aimed to teach and educate group members with ways to minimize conflicts, develop self-awareness and explore more appropriate ways to address their mental wellbeing. The curriculum is divided into 3 cohorts, totaling 3 group sessions. 

LLC OPT Curricula

LLC OPT is a subjective, evidence based therapeutic curriculum designed to assist STB consumers with reaching their highest potential by teaching more appropriate ways to recognize LEVELS, LANES and making better CHOICES. Engaging in this curriculum will help explore ways STB consumers can reduce conflicts, receive psychoeducation & psychotherapy with managing their overall mental health. The curriculum is divided into 3 cohorts, totaling 12-15 Individual sessions.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.
